Things you should know when filing a claim with insurance
Filing a claim after an accident may seem overwhelming and frustrating. In most cases, all we need is a claim number and your estimate (either written by us or by your insurance provider) and we take it from there. Your provider may ask that you send them photos, and they will write you an estimate. It's important that you look the estimate over. You may see that they missed some damage or parts that need to be replaced... Don't worry, we will take care of it. We start the process of repairs and for anything that was missed or needs to be added, we here at Elko Body, communicate with the insurance adjuster directly to get your car back to you in pre-accidental condition.
It is also beneficial to you as the claimant, to do your research on fair practices in the state of Nevada. There are laws regarding the use of aftermarket or recycled/refurbished parts when repairing your vehicle.
An insurance company may try steering you to go to one of their "approved" repair facilities. This is against the law, and you have the right to take your vehicle to any repair facility of your choosing.
You can file complaints towards an insurance company by reporting to the Nevada Division of Insurance.
